With life expectancy increasing and a growing number of elderly in the Netherlands, the way we age is becoming more relevant for both individual and society. The concept of ‘successful ageing’ has been scientifically researched for several decades. Recent research focusses more upon the balance between health, well-being and the level of participation in society.
Leyden Academy focusses on what the elderly themselves find important. Additionally, existing definitions of successful ageing are included. With this study we document the future plans and dreams of the elderly, with the impact on health, well-being and participation.
