The International Longevity Centre (ILC) the Netherlands is an independent movement that endeavours to place the subject of ageing high upon the social and political agenda. The purpose is to let people think about healthy and active ageing, with a greater freedom of choice and self-reliance. The benefits of vitality amongst older people should be encouraged while vulnerability and dependence be postponed for as long as possible. ILC The Netherlands is a member of the ILC Global Alliance, an international federation that like the Leyden Academy, strongly promotes a healthy lifestyle and growing old with vitality.
